2024 AWARDS

Impact Award

Recognition of a fellow whose accomplishments improved the health outcomes in their district or jurisdiction; made a substantial reduction in burden of disease; or represented innovations to the health district’s public health practice based on epidemiologic foundations or implementation of epidemiologic approaches.

Recognition of a fellow who has gone “above and beyond” what is expected in their normal range of responsibilities and/or has improved the work environment at their site through exceptional positivity, creativity, or collegiality.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AWARD

Recognition of a fellow whose work exemplifies the practice of service to the community. This fellow has developed relationships and/or strengthened bonds between the health district and their community through their public health service.

Outstanding Site Supervisor Award

Recipient:

Rachel Franklin, District 3-1

The Rollins Epidemiology Fellows thrive because of their supervisors at their health district sites. Rachel Franklin received the 2024 Outstanding Supervisor Award because she has gone the extra mile for her fellows, department, and community. Rachel leads by example; she takes time to develop a relationship with each fellow and staff, and goes out of her way to give opportunity to fellows to experience different facets of local public health. She focuses on their strengths and well-being!

Ashley Deverell received the 2023 Outstanding Supervisor Award because she has gone the extra mile for her fellows, department, and community. Ashley leads by example; she takes time to develop a relationship with each fellow and staff. She focuses on their strengths and well-being. She consistently shows up for the fellows and goes above and beyond for the good of her staff and the communities that they serve!

Shelby Rentmeester, Fellowship Director

The Above and Beyond Award recognizes those who have improved the work environment through exceptional positivity, creativity, or collegiality. Shelby Rentmeester has had the largest hand in helping our 50 fellows to-date get settled and succeed. She has been an outlet for fellows throughout periods of doubt and has continuously provided assistance for fellows in need of guidance. Shelby embodies what it means to work in public health and has been an incredible role model to the fellows.
