What excites you most about the fellowship program: What excites me most about joining this fellowship program is the opportunity to work alongside experienced epidemiologists and learn directly from their expertise. As a Master’s in Public Health student with a strong passion for disease prevention and community health, I am eager to deepen my understanding of real-world epidemiological practices. My current internship at the Kentucky Department for Public Health’s Immunization Branch has shown me the critical role epidemiologists play in protecting public health, and I’m excited to take that learning even further through this fellowship.

What do you love most about epidemiology: What I love most about epidemiology is that it is both data-driven and population-focused. I’m drawn to the way epidemiology uses data to uncover patterns, track diseases, and guide interventions that can improve health outcomes on a broad scale. It allows us to look beyond individual cases and focus on the bigger picture, identifying root causes, risk factors, and preventative measures that can benefit entire communities.

Epi Interests: Infectious Diseases, STDs/HIV, Chronic Diseases, and Immunizations.

Hobbies and favorite pastimes: Some of my favorite hobbies and pastimes include powerlifting, traveling, and volunteering. Powerlifting has become a big part of my life—not only for physical strength but also for the mental discipline and confidence it builds. I enjoy setting personal goals and pushing my limits, whether that’s in the gym or in life.

Fun fact: A fun fact about me is that I can deadlift, bench, and squat more than I weigh, but I still need help opening stubborn pickle jars.
