What excites you most about the fellowship program:
Getting to work on the “frontlines of public health” + getting to work in a community that I’ve never worked in before, but on topics that I have some familiarity with + being able to work on a variety of different projects + topics
What do you love most about epidemiology:
The logic/problem-solving elements of it, based directly in data, combined with the need to incorporate historical/social/medical/cultural understandings of the situation + context to successfully identify + curb an outbreak, create policy, etc. I like that combination.
Epi Interests:
Infectious diseases, foodborne/waterborne diseases + outbreak response, environmental epidemiology (i.e., cancer clusters, impacts of climate change on health), spatial epidemiology, social epidemiology (want to learn more about this last one)
Hobbies and favorite pastimes: Being outside! Hiking, going to the beach, skiing – anything where I get to be outside. I also paint and draw (not well) and sing (pretty well). I also enjoy working with animals/spending time with animals.
Fun fact: I visited eight national parks this summer
